Oltre la Bibbia. Il cinema tra narrazione e redenzione
Mino Chamla
Altre Modernità , 2011,
Abstract: In the Jewish tradition, the Bible is the origin of any possible interpretative and narrative development. Thus, starting from this statement and in the belief that film is, in its essence, narration and not representation, the author makes some remarks on the close and intimate relationship among Judaism, Jews and film, but also on the difficulty that movies have always experienced in the direct confrontation with the Bible while pretending to “represent it”. Moreover, if the cinema is mainly narrative and creative development of reality, we have to speak, with Walter Benjamin and Sigfried Kracauer, as for the Seventh art, about a sort of redemption of reality, in assonance, here again, with some profound and important trends of Judaism, and especially of the modern Jewish thought.
Mobile palliative-care teams, a practice requiring certain conditions
Mino JC
Revue Médicale de l'Assurance Maladie , 2005,
Abstract: Aim: Our aim was to illustrate how qualitative research on the practice and organization of care indicates that palliative care performed by a mobile hospital unit requires certain conditions. Stated otherwise, our objective was to show how professional practice varies with each specific work context. Method: In this article, we present the mixed results of an analysis of interventions from an observational study of a mobile team in a university hospital. Results: A number of working conditions appear to help structure a mobile palliative-care team: how palliative care is viewed by hospital services, reciprocal knowledge among healthcare professionals, the patient’s disorder and its outcome, the clinical symptoms encountered, an interruption or the continuation of treatment, problems confronted by the team and how they were resolved, the physician’s attitude toward the patient’s close family and friends and their reactions, the duration of the terminal disease-phase, whether or not the mobile team was able to accompany the patient’s family and finally, the time-relationship involved for certain protagonists. Conclusion: In addition to the clinical problem itself, medical practice also depends on how work is organized and how healthcare professionals view medical care in general. The complexity of medical practices opens new horizons for qualitative and contextual research studies on the practice and organization of healthcare.
Le néocriticisme d’Henri Bois et ses conséquences missiologiques The neocriticism of Henri Bois and its consequences in missiology

His philosophy, inspired of the French neocriticism, led Henri Bois to study and to meet non christian religions. Our contribution proposes to expose how the thought of Henri Bois evolves in contact with those. Coming from the evangelic (or orthodoxe) part of the Protestantism of the time, which tends to exclude any religion apart from Jesus Christ, Henri Bois, by the importance which he attaches to the moral conscience and the achievement of the moral and religious ideal in Jesus, skin progressively his christology, involving a considerable evolution on the level of his understanding of the Mission.
Modulation of the gravitational waveform by the effect of radiation reaction

Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.77.044008
Abstract: When we calculate gravitational waveforms from extreme-mass-ratio inspirals (EMRIs) by metric perturbation, it is a common strategy to use the adiabatic approximation. Under that approximation, we first calculate the linear metric perturbation induced by geodesics orbiting a black hole, then we calculate the adiabatic evolution of the parameters of geodesics due to the radiation reaction effect through the calculation of the self-force. This procedure is considered to be reasonable, however, there is no direct proof that it can actually produce the correct waveform we would observe. In this paper, we study the formal expression of the second order metric perturbation and show that it be expressed as the linear metric perturbation modulated by the adiabatic evolution of the geodesic. This evidence supports the assumption that the adiabatic approximation can produce the correct waveform, and that the adiabatic expansion we propose in Ref.\cite{adi} is an appropriate perturbation expansion for studying the radiation reaction effect on the gravitational waveform.
Perturbative Approach to an orbital evolution around a Supermassive black hole

Physics , 2003, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.67.084027
Abstract: A charge-free, point particle of infinitesimal mass orbiting a Kerr black hole is known to move along a geodesic. When the particle has a finite mass or charge, it emits radiation which carries away orbital energy and angular momentum, and the orbit deviates from a geodesic. In this paper we assume that the deviation is small and show that the half-advanced minus half-retarded field surprisingly provides the correct radiation reaction force, in a time-averaged sense, and determines the orbit of the particle.
Decoherence measure by gravitational wave interferometers

Physics , 2008,
Abstract: We consider the possibility to measure the quantum decoherence using gravitational wave interferometers. Gravitational wave interferometers create the superposition state of photons and measure the interference of the photon state. If the decoherence occurs, the interference of the photon state vanishes and it can be measured by the interferometers. As examples of decoherence mechanisms, we consider 1) decoherence by spontaneous localization, 2) gravitational decoherence and 3) decoherence by extra-dimensional gravity.
Self-Force in the Radiation Reaction Formula -- Adiabatic Approximation of a Metric Perturbation and an Orbit --
Yasushi Mino
Physics , 2005, DOI: 10.1143/PTP.113.733
Abstract: We propose a new metric perturbation scheme under a possible constraint of the gauge conditions in which we obtain a physically expected prediction of the orbital evolution caused by the MiSaTaQuWa self-force. In this new scheme of a metric perturbation, an adiabatic approximation is applied to both the metric perturbation and the orbit. As a result, we are able to predict the gravitational evolution of the system in the so-called radiation reaction time scale, which is longer than the dephasing time scale. However, for gravitational wave detection by LISA, this may still be insufficient. We further consider a gauge transformation in this new metric perturbation scheme, and find a special gauge condition with which we can calculate the gravitational waveform of a time scale long enough for gravitational wave detection by LISA.
From the self-force problem to the Radiation reaction formula

Abstract: We review a recent theoretical progress in the so-called self-force problem of a general relativistic two-body system. Although a two-body system in Newtonian gravity is a very simple problem, some fundamental issues are involved in relativistic gravity. Besides, because of recent projects for gravitational wave detection, it comes to be possible to see those phenomena directly via gravitational waves, and the self-force problem becomes one of urgent and highly-motivated problems in general relativity. Roughly speaking, there are two approaches to investigate this problem; the so-called post-Newtonian approximation, and a black hole perturbation. In this paper, we review a theoretical progress in the self-force problem using a black hole perturbation. Although the self-force problem seems to be just a problem to calculate a self-force, we discuss that the real problem is to define a gauge invariant concept of a motion in a gauge dependent metric perturbation.
Extreme Mass Ratio Binary: Radiation reaction and gravitational waveform

Physics , 2005, DOI: 10.1088/0264-9381/22/10/032
Abstract: For a successful detection of gravitational waves by LISA, it is essential to construct theoretical waveforms in a reliable manner. We discuss gravitational waves from an extreme mass ratio binary system which is expected to be a promising target of the LISA project. The extreme mass ratio binary is a binary system of a supermassive black hole and a stellar mass compact object. As the supermassive black hole dominates the gravitational field of the system, we suppose that the system might be well approximated by a metric perturbation of a Kerr black hole. We discuss a recent theoretical progress in calculating the waveforms from such a system.
Adiabatic Expansion for Metric Perturbation and the condition to solve the Gauge Problem for Gravitational Radiation Reaction Problem
Yasushi Mino
Physics , 2006, DOI: 10.1143/PTP.115.43
Abstract: We examine the adiabatic approximation in the study of a relativistic two-body problem with the gravitational radiation reaction. We recently pointed out that the usual metric perturbation scheme using a perturbation of the stress-energy tensor may not be appropriate for study of the dissipative dynamics of the bodies due to the radiation reaction. We recently proposed a possible approach to solve this problem with a linear black hole perturbation. This paper proposes a non-linear generalization of that method for a general application of this problem. We show that, under a specific gauge condition, the method actually allows us to avoid the gauge problem.
